Crusaders players shine in NSW leagues

The Crusaders club has capped off their Youth League Mens Division 1 title with individual awards in 4 leagues for 2011.
Following our Youth League Men’s success, Callum Jenkins was named MVP of the Final, However that wasn’t it for the Finals MVP as he was named in the league’s All-Star Five for the season capping off a strong season for him. Captain Sam Marler was also awarded some accolades during the final picking up the game’s Best Defensive Player award.
In the State League Women’s League, Tristan Black was also named in the All-Star Five following her seasons’ consistent scoring numbers. Tristan finished the season 7th top scorer in the league thoroughly deserving her All-Star Five spot.
The Crusaders Youth League Women’s side was next, and some would say that they were debatably the best performing Crusaders group in 2011. Paige Melville was named League MVP for the season and gained a spot in the All-Star Five, following her number 2 scoring rank on the season. She wasn’t alone in the season recognition, with fellow team mate Caitlin Eirth grabbing the League’s Best-Defensive player for 2011 in her last Youth League season.
Paige Melville also had a very successful season in the Waratah Championship Women’s League where she played for the Hornsby Spiders. Paige picked up the Under 21 Player of the Year Award to add to her success in the Youth League competition for the Crusaders.
Despite having a tough year, the Championship Men can see some light on the season, with Player/Coach Tim Hudson winning the top spot on Free-Throw percentage for the League. Tim shot at a very impressive 92.2% from the charity stripe all season long.
All in all a successful season for the Crusaders, and we can only hope that 2012 brings bigger and better things.
