1. General Rules of Gosford City Basketball & Sports Stadium
The Competitions Manager reserves the right to adjudicate on any situation.
Players, Coaches and Spectators are to follow the directions of the Competitions Manager or any Member of the Board.
At Gosford City Basketball & Sports Stadium we encourage the development of individual and team fundamentals and for that reason:
- In junior competition all players must take the court in both halves.
- Zone Defence will not be permitted in the junior competition with the exception of U18's.
- Three Point Baskets will not be awarded in U7, U8, U9, U10, U11 and U12 competitions.
- Abuse will not be tolerated towards other players and referees.
- All persons entering the stadium will abide by the Codes of Conduct displayed on the notice boards.
1.1 Conduct of Games
All games under the jurisdiction of Gosford City Basketball & Sports Stadium shall be conducted according to the rules of the game laid down by FIBA, who are the International Governing Body for the sport of basketball except where variances are listed within the By - Laws
All teams having entered the competition and registered by paying the team nomination fee and individual registration. Teams shall automatically pledge to pay all court fees for the competition whether the team completes the competition or withdraws before it finishes. An exception to this rule is when a team is withdrawn by the Board or is given permission to withdraw due to extenuating circumstances, a withdraw fee may be charged.
All matches will be under the control of Gosford City Baksetball & Sports Stadium, which is responsible for receiving individual player registrations, nominations forms, memberships fees and court fees from all teams in all divisions. Gosford City Baksetball & Sports Stadium is also responsible for compiling draws, notifying team delegates of the draw and any late changes including forfeits.
1.3 Duties and Powers of the Competitions Manager and Court Managers
The Competitions Manager has control of all Domestic Basketball games and shall enforce the official rules and Gosford City Baksetball & Sports Stadium rules.
Where disputes occur, the Competitions Manager and Court Managers have the power to make a decision that will be in the best interest of the sport and Gosford City Baksetball & Sports Stadium.
1.4 Eligibility to play at Gosford City Baksetball & Sports Stadium
All membrs must be current financial members of both Gosford City Baksetball & Sports Stadium and Basketball NSW. Unfinancial players will not be permitted to take the court.
Teams must nominate all players on the official team nomination form.
All game fees should be paid prior to playing each game.
New players should add their names to the scoresheet if it is not already printed after consulting with the Court Supervisor. Names must be written clearly and in full. Players adding their names to the scoresheet must be financial members.
Players wearing jewellery must remove or tape it prior to taking the court.
Players with long fingernails must cut or tape them prior to taking the court. The tape should be of a soft type and not electrical or sticky tape.
Players with long hair should tie it up or back in a safe manner or as directed by the Referee or Court Supervisor.
The Competitions Manager reserves the right to refuse admission of any team or player to any competition.
Males are only allowed to play in men's or boy's competitions. Females are only allowed to play in women's or girl's competitions except in the following circumstances:-
- Under 10's competition and Unisex where special rules will be implemented.
Players must be under the age as of the 31st December of the year in which the competition commences.
A team (that contains Representatie players) playing in a competition within their own age group may have only two (2) Division 1 players or four(4) Division 2 players in that team. Combinations of the above will be at the discretion of the Competitions Manager.
Juniors playing up an age group may play in two (2) teams, but in different grades i.e. A Grade and B Grade (no lower grade).
Representative players may play as a Rep Team, up an age group and also in a domestic team within or above their age group. If, however, there is a clash of game times thier priority lies with their Domestic Team.
Players under the age of 16 are not permitted to play in any senior basketball competitions for their own welfare and safety. Special clearance will be considered in consultation with the Competitions Manager.
In the Under 20 competition overage players may be considered for eligibility only after submitting a written application to tthe Competitions Manager.
New players must not join a team after grading has taken place without the permission of the Competitions Manager.
All players must be recorded on the scoresheet as they are legal documents (for a period of seven years) and are required to clarify eligibility for finals.
1.5 Membership Fees
New members must complete a Gosford City Basketball & Sports Stadium membership form and pay all fees prior to their first game. The Competitions Manager reserves the right to refuse membership to any person.
Players who have paid their Basketball NSW membership with another basketball association must affiliate with Gosford City Basketball & Sports Stadium. They will be required to provide the cashier with a receipt prior to joining.
Any unfinancial member will be printed with *** next to their name on the scoresheet.
Teams that play unfinancial player(s) shall forfeit all match points for the matches in which the unfinancial player(s) participated.
All miniball and junior memberships expire on the last day of September each year and all senior memberships expire on tha last day of January each year.
1.6 Fines and Outstanding Fees
All fines and outstanding fees must be paid prior to the team's next competition game or any subsequent one shall be declared a financial forfeit.
If a team disbands, then each player must pay their share of the team's fines or outstanding fees before being permitted to play again.
A team wishing to appeal against a fine must apply in writing after paying the fine. If an appeal is upheld, the fee will be refunded.
1.6.2 Lodging Protests and Complaints
Any protest should be lodged in writing to the Basketball Office within 48 hours of the alleged incident.
Complaints should be forwarded to the Cashier through the official complaint form as soon as the alleged incident occurs and it wil be dealt with accordingly.

- One Time Out per team per half. Clock does not stop. Time Outs can not be granted during the last 3 mintes of each half.

Timing ~
- The last minute of the game is fully times if the scores are within 10 points or less. During this period, the clock stops for all made baskets and whistles. Teams may substitute when the opposing team scores.

Positions for the semi finals are decided by the competition points.
- If two teams are on equal points the results of who won when they played other
- If still equal the points diffrential in the games played between each other
- If still equal the percentage points based on all games played
2.5 Timing for Finals
Two Time Outs per half - clock stops for all Time Outs
Last 3 minutes af the second half is fully timed regardless of the score.
Overtime is 3 minutes fully timed.
* Fully Timed means the game clock stops for every whistle and every made basket in the last three minutes of the second half. The Game Clock restarts as soon as the ball touches a player within the court.
2.6 Duty
For each game, teams are to provide one person for Scoretable
2.7 Finals
1st place v 4th place and 2nd place v 3rd place. Winners advance to the Grand Final.
Grades with three teams 2nd place v 3rd place, Winner advances to play 1st place in the Final.
Matches will only be rescheduled at the discretion of the Competitions Manager and under agreement from the opposing team.
Teams are expected to be ready to start matches on time. If a team is late, the Referee is to start the game clock and the late team will be penalised 2 points for every minute up until 10 minutes, whereby the game will be classified as a forfeit. The Court Supervisor will allocate the points to the appropriate team.
2.8 Eligibility for Finals
To be eligibile to play in Finals a player must have played in a minimum of half of the round games (including grading games and byes). Teams winning by a notified forfeit will have all nominated players credited as having played the match concerned.
As with all games, teams must have a minimum of 4 players to start a Semi Final or Grand Final match.
In order to be eligible for a final, the team and players must be under no financial obligation to Gosford City Basketball & Sports Stadium.
2.9 Team Uniforms
All members of a team shall wear singlets or tops of the same colour and design.
All members of a team shall wear shorts of the same colour but not necessarily the same colour as the singlets
Singlets shall be numbered from 4 to 15
Players will not be permitted to play in shorts with pockets, rivets, eyelets or zippers.
All players are required to wear suitable non-marking shoes when playing. Dunlop volleys, Raybens and other canvas shoes are not acceptable
Teams should be in full uniform for all competition matches.
In the event of two teams playing each other with the same coloured uniform, the team mentioned as Team B on the scoresheet will be required to wear alternate colours. Singlets can be borrowed from the Cashiers Office.
Players who compete in a match wearing an incorrect uniform will incur a maximum penatly of 3 points per player. The Court Supervisor will be responsible for applying this penalty.
*Team uniforms can be ordered and purchased from the Pro Shop in the foyer of the Stadium.
2.10 Forfeits
Teams will be permitted to take the court with four (4) players. Of these four (4) players, three (3) players must be from their original nomination form.
To make up a total of 5 players, the substitutes must be from a lower grade or a younger age group, unless it is the lowest.
2.11 Forfeit Fines
Un-notified Forfeits will incur a fine of double the applicable game fee.
Notified Forfeits will pay the applicable court fee
An attempt will be made to reschedule games, provided the Competitions Manager is given two weeks notice. If the game cannot be rescheduled, it will be declared a forfeit.
Teams may be disqualified from the competition after two un-notified forfeits.
2.12 Injured Players
In the event of an injury, the Referee will use his/her discretion as to when to stop the game. Coaches, spectators and other players are not allowed to enter onto the court until advised by the Referee.
After the game, an injury report form needs to be completed immediately and a copy of the scoresheet needs to be attached and given to the Cashier or Court Supervisor
